Memories from friendship

Friendship
is like
stepping
on a
wet cement;

The longer
you stay,
the harder
for you
to let go.

But
once you're
gone,
you can't go
without
leaving a
single but
memorable
mark.

Normalcy in life

Life is all about
waking up each day
to discover somthing new...

about meeting
old people
but making new conversations...

walking through
old roads
but still feeling nice about it...

Realizing that you
have grown
a day older
but still
feeling young at heart...

Meeting busy schedules
but still finding
time for old life.

Revolution

It was inevitable that revolution should be started by propertyless men like Bonifacio
And equally inevitable that it should be condemned by reasonable men like Rizal.

On NOT Giving Up

[From an email; no source given]
Don't give up.....

One day I decided to quit...

I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality. .. I wanted to quit my life.

I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.

"God", I asked, "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"

His answer surprised me...

"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"

"Yes", I replied.

"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them.

I gave them light.

I gave them water.

The fern quickly grew from the earth.

Its brilliant green covered the floor.

Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.

In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful.

And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. He said.

"In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed.

But I would not quit.
In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. I would not quit." He said.

"Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant. ..But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.

It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.

I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."

He asked me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots".

"I would not quit on the bamboo.

I will never quit on you."

"Don't compare yourself to others." He said.

"The bamboo had adifferent Purpose than the fern.

Yet they both make the forest beautiful."

"Your time will come", God said to me.

"You will rise high"

"How high should I rise?" I asked.

"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.

"As high as it can?" I questioned.

"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

I left the forest and brought back this story.

I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.

Never, Never, Never Give up.

On friendship

Real friends

never leave
each other...

never
part...

they just sometimes
sit silently,
deep within
each other's
heart,

saying....

I'm just here
if you need me.

On Priorities

Life and A Cup Of Coffee

Hi

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar......and the coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them intothe jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "Yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf ball are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends, your favorite passions--things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car.
The sand is everything else--the small stuff."

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Play with your children.

Take time to get medical checkups.

Take your spouse out to dinner.

Play another 18 holes.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

"Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a cup of coffee with ur friend."

UP related post: being proud of yourself

THE NATHAN SPEECH

Undersecretary Rosario Manalo, Dean Josefina Agravante, esteemed faculty, dear parents, fellow graduates, good evening.
Let me begin by saying that my mother is a domestic helper. In otherpeople's homes she cooks, does the laundry, cleans the bathroom, and takes care of the infants. She put me through school doing that kind of work because that was the only thing she could do. She never finished high school, never enjoyed bourgeois luxuries. And later tonight, we'll be going home to our hovel in a squatter area in Taytay, Rizal dubbed Coco Village because most of the houses are made of cheap, coco lumber. And yet, few of my classmates know that. Most are comfortable with their neat picture of the world. Comfortable with cute, little concerns in the university like projects and papers, reports, boyfriends and girlfriends, torn hymen, cheap thrills in the lagoon, concerts, cell phones, night lives. And in this age that flaunts globalization and the advance of technology, we are led to believe more and more that we have entered an age of solidarity, unity, an age where there is inter-connection in a global village that continues to spawn genuine development for all mankind.
Indirectly, it leads us to a complacency supported by the lie that the world is alright. After all, we feel alright. The pain and suffering exists somewhere out there to a few insignificant people.
I have walked among you. But lost in anonymity, I am assumed to be no different from anyone even by some of my friends. When I was a freshman, aclose friend of mine enjoyed lambasting the squatter, the jologs, for their bad behavior, their bad smell, their propensity for breeding baby after baby whom they cannot support. My friend did not realize that I was from that background.
He did not realize that I grew up watching my friends die of sickness, or get pregnant too early, or get injured or killed in petty street wars, or go tojail, or get resigned to the typical, monotonous lifestyle of the poor. And the assumption that everything is alright grows with the lie that we are more or less the same, that we are united, that the dawning new world order has started to bring the sought after solidarity.
But the right approach to true solidarity and unity is not one that denies difference, denies the pain of the oppressed just because it is not beautiful, or as our country's President says, "It is too depressing." The right approach is to expose the truth, highlight the difference and work for its remedy.
For as long as there are poor people, Moros discriminated against, oppressed women, abused children, and multitudes of other categories consigned to the margins because they threaten the image of unity and stability that feeds the established status quo, there can be no true solidarity. But the creativity of the artist, the magic of their potent images, the words of the men and women of letters---these have the power to transform, power to wake our people from the stupor that gives them dreams that are lies. Power to destroy myths and create a world that is beautiful and true.
Of course, the arts and letters can be used the other way. The way that sells out, aids corruption, subverts the potentiality of what is good. But will you?
As graduates we are in a phase that continues to taunt us with the question,
"Who do you sell your brains to?" It is easy to be complacent. To believe the lies. But we shouldn't.
We owe it to our teachers who taught us patiently despite the low salary, our parents who worked so hard for us, and to our people whose blood and sweat built this institution and continue to put us through school.
We owe it to them to become the prophets of this age that will preach the true gospel of solidarity. Only then can we all be truly one in a world where itwould make perfect sense to celebrate the fact---squatter ako, katulong ang nanay ko ---and we are proud because, and not in spite of, the fact.
I'm sure, all of us have issues about which we keep silent because of the power of the lies. This is the day to be free.
I call on you ----fellow scholars and artists, unite!

sisters having a coke on a hot day

Sisters Mary Catherine, Maria Theresa, Katherine Marie, Rose Frances, & Mary Kathleen left the Convent on a trip to St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City and were sight-seeing on a Tuesday
in July. It was hot and humid in town and their traditional garb was making them so uncomfortable,
they decided to stop in at Patty McGuire's Pub for a cold soft drink.

Patty had recently added special legs to his barstools, which were the talk of the
fashionable
eastside neighborhood. All 5 Nuns sat up at the bar and were enjoying their Cokes when Monsignor
Riley and Father McGinty entered the bar through the front door.

They, too, came for
a cold drink but were shocked and almost fainted at what they saw.
SCROLL DOWN!!!!!!

Give us a sense of humor, Lord,
Give us the grace to see a joke,
To get some humor out of life,
And pass it on to other folk.

Karma

People maybe unkind,
Just be kind.

They may cheat on you,
Just be honest.

They may forget your deeds,
Just do good.

In the end,
its between you and God,
Not you and them.

Taking risks

If you do not go after what you want,
You will never have it.

If you do not ask,
The answer will always be no.

If you fo not step forward,
You will always be in the same place.

Take risks,
For life goes on,

On Life

Life never gets tough if you can handle it better.

Cries wont be tears if you're not hurt;

Sadness wont mean anything unless you're down;

Anger will be nothing if apology comes right after;

Smiles mean nothing if it comes from the unknown.

A touch never says it cares unless you think so.

There are lots of things in life that have different meaning of its own,
so if you fell like having a duel with life...

Fight not because you're brave,

But because you're brave who wanted to prove something

Life and Coffee

Life is like having a cup of coffee.

You sit by the window,
Lift the cup and take a sip;
Only to realize that somebody forgot to put the sugar.

Too lazy to get the sugar,
you somehow struggle through that sugarless cup;

Till you discover undissolved sugar crystals
sitting at the bottom.

That's how life is;
we sometimes forget to make an effort
to value what is around us.

Look around, maybe the sweetness
you are looking for
is closer than you think.

Start your day right.
Flash a smile;
Have your coffee,
Make it sweet.

Being yourself

IF you
laugh really loud,
talk spontaneously,
and you dont care what your hair looks like,

You're probably with real friends

On friendship

Have you ever thank a friend for :

their smiles?

their hellos?

their taps at your back?

their way of calling your name?

all of the little and simplest form of love?

Imagine your friends would never do that anymore...

Could you bear it?

Small things usually go unnoticed,
but in reality, it is always the one
that keeps us going.

The good things

Set
aside
things
that
made
you
sad

and
remember
those
that
made
you
glad

Forget
the
troubles
that
passed
away

and
remember
the
blessings
that
come
each
day.

Being humble

A big jar
full of water
gets emptied by just a
small hole;

Even a little
anger and pride
will drain
all the nobility
of a good heart.

Stay humble.

Inday chronicles

as sent in an email....really funny

for your indulgence

"I am solitary. I find it hard to succumb to slumber, though the downpour of rain should've made it easy. This exuberant emotional glue I have for you cannot be simply washed away. The multiplicity of what I feel for you is inevitable. This isn't platonic. It's real, true romance."
— Inday, nag-e-emote sa may bintana habang iniisip si Dodong, ang boyfriend niyang driver ng kapitbahay

"One grows distant from another not because of hatred, not because of indifference, but because of fear. There's the fear that the hurt gets greater as one gets closer, a recognition of the tendecy to fall deeply and consequently drown in a quicksand of stupid irrationalities. Sometimes, what drives one away is not the absence of emotion, but the overwhelming presence of it."

"I appreciate your courage, but... placating will just give false hopes. Your flowers are nothing but fancy. I ain't worth an ordinary weed cutter. Find yourself another lover."

Amo: Inday, di ba nanood ka ng The Buzz kahapon? Bakit daw umalis si Angel Locsin sa GMA 7?
Inday: Sometimes, people choose to leave not because of selfish reasons but because they just know that things will get worse if they stay. Leaving can be a tough act and it's harder when people can't understand you for doing so.

Dear Sir/Madam:
Attached herewith is a list of proposed acquisition in line with my proposal to upgrade your household facilities. I have already made an initial survey of current market prices. "Guess what? The not-so-stunning guys keep on staring at my newly-manicured nails, while the copycat freaks envy my stylishly-cut mane. Unfortunately, after a great day at the spa, I have to step on this muddy and stinking place just to purchase some veggies!"

Amo: Inday, bumili ka nga ng mga isda... O o nga pala, Inglisera ka…. Would you please purchase many fishes for this week's meals?
Inday: Judging from your statement, I believe you meant a variety of fish. The term "fishes," although rarely and even erroneously used, connotes a plethora or an array of different kinds of the aforementioned gilled creatures. But the more pressing questions before I traverse the road to the wet market would be: What certain type of fish? Fillet or not? Frozen or just right smack the day's catch? (Pauses) Aaah… by manner of careful extrapolation, given the meager budget in this household's quasi-peasant middle class taste, I assume then that will source the staple "galewng-gowng" . Am I correct?
Amo: Leche!
Inday: You meant the freshwater milkfish? Then the "ba-ngooz" is it!

"Physical stress and excessive work may result in serious damage to one's body. It is, therefore, essential that once in a while, we take a break from our usual routine to replenish the lost energy we once had."

"Don't limit my capacity in the four corners of this luxurious abode. Expose me to the real challenges of the outside world. I want to grow as an individual with dynamic experience."
— Inday, nagrereklamo dahil ayaw isama sa Enchanted Kingdom

Amo: Inday, bakit mo binenta yung sirang silya?
Inday: I have computed the chair's fair value less cost to sell and the value in use using projections for five years and a pre-tax discount rate. Accordingly, the value in use is lower, so I decided to sell the chair. This is in accordance with PAS18 on Revenue, PAS16 on Property, Plant, and Equipment, and PAS36 on Impairment of Assets!
Amo: Adik ka talaga, Inday!

Dear Mom,
Had it not been for the smelling salt, I must have collapsed moments ago. Junior has become a little monster to me! Remember the head accident he had? As if it wasn't enough, he was summoned by the principal of his shabbily-run academe. Oh, such an erudite bunch of baboons! I never thought being a governess can be such a strenuous employ.

Inday

Amo 1: Baka naman kalamansi?
